Learn More About our Application Process
Includes cover letter & resume tips, insight into our hiring process as well as information on our hiring process during COVID.

Stage 1 – Your resume and cover letter will be reviewed by one of our Human Resources team members. This person has expertise in interpreting resume information and determining if the role that has been applied may be the best fit or is there another role within our organization that your skills, knowledge and experience are better suited for.

Stage 2 – Next, our Human Resources team works closely with the hiring manager & key internal stakeholders to develop a short-list of candidates. Applicants are placed on this list based on the information given in the applicant’s cover letter and resume in comparison to the preferred hiring criteria and needs of the position.

Stage 3 – Those candidates successful in being short-listed, will be contacted personally by our Human Resources team to set up an interview. We will work closely with each applicant to arrange a time to suit both of our needs.

Your Cover letter & Resume

  • These are the first pieces of information that we review when you apply for a job with VantageOne. Your cover letter and resume are reviewed by a real person in our  Human Resources Department.
  • In your cover letter – Let us know something about you and why you have applied for a job with VantageOne.
  • In your resume – Align your skills and knowledge and experience with the job description for the job you are applying for.
  • Key information we look for:
    • Have you managed projects, how do you measure success?
    • Have you held a leadership role? What was the scope of your work?
    • Do you have a diploma or degree?
    • Have you built relevant skills and knowledge through your post-secondary related projects?

At VantageOne we use various interview methods. Your interview may be in person, through our digital platform for video conferencing or conducted through a telephone interview.

Our Human Resources team will be in contact with you to advise how your interview will be conducted.

Since this type of interview is a bit different than a “traditional” in-person interview, we wanted to provide potential short-listed candidates with some tips to help you prepare:

  • Find a brightly lit, quiet and confidential space.
  • Ensure you have a reliable and safe internet connection.
  • Look into the camera while speaking.
  • Choose a professional background.
  • Turn off notifications and silence your phone.
  • Use a laptop or computer.
  • Charge your laptop ahead of time and during the interview if possible.
  • Update your computer and ensure all programs are ready to go.
  • Communicate with your household.
  • Wear professional attire.
  • Practice using Zoom ahead of the interview.
  • Ask us questions – just as you would in a “traditional interview”

All short-listed candidates will be contacted directly by our Human Resources team to schedule an interview and discuss the video conferencing details.
